3 STEPS
TO GET STARTED
Get your coverage checked
Before you talk to your doctor about beginning your switch to CABENUVA, you can enroll in ViiVConnect by phone or online. It takes as little as 5 minutes! Whether you're insured or not, ViiVConnect Access Coordinators are ready to check your coverage and review the savings and assistance programs that may be available for you.*
*Subject to eligibility and program terms and conditions; ViiVConnect programs do not constitute health insurance.
Prepare for your treatment plan
You and your doctor will choose a Target Treatment Date for your ongoing injection appointments and set up your first one. Before beginning injections, you may take about a month of starter pills to see how your body reacts to the medicines.
Begin long-acting CABENUVA
You’ll get your injections on your Target Treatment Date, according to your treatment plan. To help you stay undetectable,* it’s important to keep all planned appointments.
*Undetectable means the amount of HIV in the blood is below the level that can be measured by a lab test. Results may vary.
You can always lean on your Care Team for support. Your doctor, your Case Manager and ViiVConnect's Access Coordinators are ready to assist you every step of the way.
WHAT’S IT LIKE ON
INJECTION DAY?
Make the most of your Injection Day.
Your Injection Day is a chance to check in with your Care Team, ask questions and stay proactive about your health. You’re not alone in managing your HIV—your team will be there with you every step of the way.
- During your appointment, a trained healthcare provider will give you 2 injections in your buttocks.
- Your healthcare provider may ask you to wait about 10 minutes after your treatment to check for any reactions, just to make sure you’re feeling OK.
- Following that, it should be fine to return to your daily activities, but always check with your doctor.
DO CABENUVA
INJECTIONS HURT?
You may experience some soreness, discomfort or other symptoms at the injection site over the days that follow your injections—this is common with many injectable treatments. CABENUVA clinical studies show they were mostly mild to moderate and resolved within about 3 days after the first symptoms.
TIP: Ask your doctor and Care Team about your options for alleviating injection-site reactions, like over-the-counter medications, using hot or cold therapy packs, staying active and stretching and avoiding rigorous exercise or activity.

DO I NEED TO GET
MY INJECTIONS AT MY DOCTOR’S OFFICE?
Your doctor may refer you to an Alternative Site of Care (ASOC)—a medical facility where you can get your CABENUVA injections.
An ASOC may be a good option if the location and appointment times work better for you. Discuss with your doctor whether receiving your CABENUVA injections at an ASOC is best for you.
