IN 3 STEPS

  • Lean on your Care Team for support. Your doctor’s office, your local Case Manager or ViiVConnect’s Access Coordinators are ready to assist you with any questions you may have.
  • Your doctor may refer you to an Alternative Site of Care (ASOC) for CABENUVA. If so, the steps in this guide that speak about your doctor’s office will likely be completed by the ASOC.

3 STEPS TO

GET YOU STARTED

Get your coverage and costs checked
Ask your Care Team to verify your coverage and costs

Whether you’re insured or not, ask your doctor’s office, a Specialty Pharmacy or a ViiVConnect Access Coordinator to check your coverage and any potential out-of-pocket costs for your prescribed CABENUVA.*

Be sure to ask about:
  • Your pharmacy and medical coverage
  • Copays for treatment appointments
  • If you are eligible for a $0 copay or other savings programs

You could pay as little as a $0 copay per injection on prescribed CABENUVA. A copay is the out-of-pocket amount you will pay based on your insurance coverage. See if you’re eligible at viivsavingsprogram.com.

You can enroll in ViiVConnect by phone or online. ViiVConnect Access Coordinators are available to discuss coverage questions, changes in insurance and potential savings opportunities.

*Subject to eligibility and program terms and conditions; ViiVConnect programs do not constitute health insurance.

Prepare for your treatment plan

First, you and your doctor will choose a Target Treatment Date, when CABENUVA will be administered either once a month or every two months, usually around the same date each time.

TIP: Choosing a date before the 28th of the month makes it easier to have the same day every time!

  • Expand for more about the starter pills

Your free starter pills will be delivered to you or your doctor’s office in a CABENUVA Welcome Pack, which includes a printed guide and 2 bottles—each containing 30 tablets of 1 of the 2 medicines in CABENUVA.

TIP: When you receive your Welcome Pack, confirm your next steps with your doctor’s office before taking any starter pills.

How to take your starter pills

You’ll begin taking your starter pills as directed on the date you and your doctor have chosen.

Your doctor may advise you to take your starter pills right away or to finish your current prescription.

For about a month, you’ll take each of your 2 starter pills:
Begin long-acting CABENUVA

What to expect on your first Target Treatment Date:

  • Before your appointment

You’ll take your last dose of daily HIV pills on the same day as your first CABENUVA injections, which you’ll receive at your chosen treatment location.

  • During your appointment

A trained healthcare provider will give you 2 injections in your buttocks. Each injection contains 1 of the 2 medicines in CABENUVA.

  • After your injections

Your doctor may have you wait about 10 minutes to check for any reactions. After that, returning to your daily activities should be fine, but always check with your doctor.

Getting the hang of your new routine

You’ll get your CABENUVA injections on or around your Target Treatment Date, according to your treatment plan.

You will return 1 month later to receive your next injections. From then on, you will begin your monthly or every-other-month regimen.

*Undetectable means the amount of HIV in the blood is below the level that can be measured by a lab test. Results may vary.
